Why???
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF SHOOTING/SCORING SCHOOL IS TO PROVIDE SERIOUS SHOOTERS WITH THE SKILLS TO SELF-ANALYZE AND CORRECT THEIR SHOT ON AN ON-GOING BASIS. THIS SHOOTING SYSTEM WILL INCREASE SHOOTING INTELLIGENCE, ACCURACY, AND CONSISTENCY BY TEACHING THE MOST UP-TO-DATE AND EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUES.

Problem: The game of basketball is losing potential players (especially young, beginning players) to other sports and activities because they do not “make” enough shots early in their career.
Solution: Early education and training. We want to teach “success” by using lowered goals and smaller basketballs, etc.

Problem: Traditional, comprehensive camps expose participants to many areas of the game without much learning that transfers to improved performance.
Solution: Shooting/Scoring School will teach how to become an improved shooter. Although initial improvement will occur during the camp, shooters can NOT become significantly better in the 12 hour session. Our school will teach all shooters the skills to self-analyze and correct their shot on an on-going basis.

Problem: The majority of coaches and players do NOT understand the importance of direction, arc, and power of an accurate shot.
Solution: There is a need for more intellectual understanding of the science of shooting the basketball.

Problem: Players do not know how to train to become a better shooter.
1. Shooters do not practice at game speed under game conditions:
“game shots, from game spots, at
game speed”.
2. The emphasis on playing games,
especially in the summer, does not
allow enough time to correctly
practice shooting.
3. There is little transfer from shooting
practice and shooting in a
competitive setting.
Solution: There is a need for quality practice time as well as quality instruction and evaluation.

Problem: The explanation for “losing” is normally “We just didn’t shoot well” and not shooting well affects all phases of performance.

Solution: Improve shooting accuracy both from the field and the foul line would produce more “wins”-an increase of 10 points per game has a tremendous effect resulting in more successful seasons. Players will learn to get more attempts and make more shots!!!
